Go to your dealer & have them look up this Technical Service Bulletin, and then have them repair your window or windows: Service Bulletin Number: 990848001 Bulletin Sequence Number: 657 Date of Bulletin: 9904 NHTSA Item Number: SB606578 Make: CHEVROLET TRUCK Model: SILVERADO Year: 1999 Component: VISUAL SYSTEMS:GLASS:WINDOW:DOOR AND SIDE Summary: CONCERNS WITH WIND NOISE FROM REAR QUARTER WINDOW. *TT I found this on the NHTSA’s website. Had mine replaced twice – once before the bulletin came out and once after. Second time was the charm – no more noise, and the noise has not come back even after opening & closing the window numerous times. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

Bob, Thanks for the information. The service guy’s eyeballs nearly fell out when I gave him the information you provided. He couldn’t believe a woman could be up to speed on things like trucks. fyi, B.D., the techs in our shop, had gotten tired of ordering and replacing the frames, so one day they popped out the glass, and installed a screw through the frame and into the metal behind. Works like a damn, and you never worry about the customer coming back. Sounds pretty rough, but works EVERY time. Touch up the head of the screw with some touch up paint and you are good to go. jed
