adjusting the parking brake on my 2000 s-10 4×4

Yeah, but most people are used to parking brakes that hold against the engine and the new design with the seperate shoe doesn’t do that as well as the old drum brake type.  It’ll hold when the truck is in neutral against gravity dragging the truck downhill, but not against all those pony’s under the hood. I think the main reason they don’t seem to hold as well is the size of the shoes versus the size of the old style drum brakes they used to use. At least they didn’t use those bastard calipers with the parking brake built in to the disc part of the brake…what a PITA it was to service those! — Old Crow ASE Master Tech   Chevy Master Tech ‘82 FLTC   ‘Pearl’ ‘84 S-10 4×4  350k miles and still going

Ya mine has been shit since the day I got it(2000 also) seems it is called a low effort parking brake, which to me means low effort = no worky. The dealer tried to fix it twice with no results, they replaced cables and adjusted but it has never worked well. Supposedly the brake pedal should be able to go right to the floor, this is normal.
