99 Chevy Silverado CD Player Question….

Question:

Purchase the NEW Cd Stereo at WWW.BOUGHT4LESS.COM Now to replace the OE slave CD player. The 95-98 C/K trucks had a Pocket on the trucks equipped without the slave CD or cassette unit. That pocket will fit in place of your slave CD. Should be readily available in Salvage yards.

: I have a new body style 99 Chevy Silverado LT…  I’m thinking about : replacing the factory Radio/CD Player and here’s my problem… : : I have bucket seats with the center console.  The CD player is a separate : unit that sits down right above the cup holders on my center console while : the factory Radio/Tape Player sits where it normally does.  Does anyone know : if they make an aftermarket part (whether it’s a plate or a little storage : compartment) that I could put in place of the CD player above the center : console so I still don’t have to look at it when I install an aftermarket CD : player in the dash? : : Any help would be appreciated. : :

Check with the dealer.  Trucks that didn’t have the dual cassette/cd option have a compartment there.  I’ve taken a couple of them out to upgrade to the dual player option in the past and they just snap in. — Old Crow ‘82 FLTC 92" ‘Pearl’ TOMKAT, SENS, BS#133, DOF#51 ASE Certified Master Auto Tech Chevy Certified Master Tech

There are no kits out there, right now, that will fill the hole left if you pull out the cd player.  Best thing you can do is leave it in there, unplugged.  Or you can do what I did, replace it with a DVD player.  There are a few units out there that are almost the exact same size as the factory cd player and you can used the mounting rails on the player, screw them to the DVD player and slide it in.
