Installing PIAA 580 Driving Lights???
Question:
I don’t have answer about the wiring. However, I always use a separate circuit, I use a foot switch and un starter relay from Chrysler (ex. Newport 75). I think it’s much more versatile in that way. I’ve recently purchased a pair of driving lights for my ‘01 Chevy Silverado 1500. A friend of mine and I had started the install this past weekend. We’ve mounted the lights, and gotten the switch through the firewall into the cab. All that we’ve got left is to wire the remaining harness. We’ve got to screw in the ring terminals to the battery posts (On the big battery, there are no post. Instead, we’ve got to screw the bolt through the ring terminal) After that, we’ve got to tap in the closed circuit wire into the high-beam lights. Two problems. First off, the ring terminals are a bit small. I think that we can easily purchase larger rings, clip the originals, and get them replaced. Am I right? Secondly, where do we tap into the high-beam wire??? We followed the lighting conduit to the high beam lights on the drivers side. After pulling the wire out, we tested them with a circuit tester. This is where we got really stumped. While testing the two wires for the high beams, these are the results that we got. One wire kept a closed circuit whether we were in high-beam or not. The other wire would close-circuit during low-beam, then open-circuit during high-beam. What is up with that??? Can someone give advice on both of my problems? I’m more interested as to where I can tap into the high-beams. Thanks in advance.
