Metallic noise when I Brake

Question:

I’ve got a 1990 Chevy Silverado.  I recently had a new GM Crate engine 5.7 350 and a new rebuilt transmission 700R4 replaced in the vehicle.  Not all the time, but most of the time as I am braking, I hear a "tunk" sound coming from what I believe is the lower front, but it could be underneath the cab. I will be taking it in next Thursday, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to what I may be experiencing. TIA — Stephen and Erica Chenelle

Response:

Depending on the big the sound is, it may just be the universals or control are bushings. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I’ve got a 1990 Chevy Silverado.  I recently had a new GM Crate engine 5.7 > 350 and a new rebuilt transmission 700R4 replaced in the vehicle.  Not all > the time, but most of the time as I am braking, I hear a "tunk" sound coming > from what I believe is the lower front, but it could be underneath the cab. > I will be taking it in next Thursday, but I was wondering if anyone could > give me some insight as to what I may be experiencing. > TIA > — > Stephen and Erica Chenelle

Response:

Check your tranny for broken or loose mounts

Response:

I put upper control arm bushings in twice over 300,000 miles and that was the sound I heard. They would get so bad going slow turning and hit the brakes I could see they wheel move around.  It’s pretty obvious with the wheel off the ground
