engine swap

Question:

You should be able to "bottom tap" that hole.  Check with your chevy dealer for a new pivot bolt or possibly  somewhere in the aftermarket?  I did something similar on a Ford Truck.  The donor motor must have been out of an automatic equipt car. okay for one..i never said i was gonna run it with a 3 speed…and if u have money to give too me…please do…cause i sure the heck dont have it laying around…i just want to get the darn engine in there…okay about this modification…can u be more specific?? i never messed with a hydroloic clutch….if i use a hydrolic..does that mean there is no ball and socket comming out of the engine?? MAY THE SWARTZ BE WITH YOUUUUUUUUU!!

Response:

First of all why would you want to run a 327 with a 3 speed. second WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO RUN A 327 WITH A THREE SPEED. Ok forget about the cable assembly. Get a hydrolic (pardon the spelling) clutch pedal. You will have to modify the mounting to make it work but it would be SO much easier, No more adusting the clutch. Set it once and be done with it. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> i know that this is not a car group..but i cant seem to find one that > fits.. so..i will post my question anyway. i have a 70 nova with a 6 > banger/3 speed..and will be changing to a 327 out of a 63 impala.. now > all is ready to go , except one thing. on the 6 it has  a ball and > socket threaded into the engine where the clutch slides ..but on the > 327.. there is a hole that is not threaded…but it looks to be where a > ball and socket could be put. do i need to tap it and thread that > hole…and get a bigger ball and socket to fit in there?? if not…i > might just mount something on the firewall…to run the clutch… any > insite would be greatly appriciated… > thanks, > justin > MAY THE SWARTZ BE WITH YOUUUUUUUUU!!

Is it a major thing to drop a 4.3 in a 1986 Blazer 4×4 that has a 2.8 in it now?

Response:

Charles, I think that your best bet would be to contact Advance Adapters.  I believe that they have a kit for doing such a swap.  Try to visit http://www.advanceadapters.com/ for more information.  You may want to actually call them if the info. is not on the site. Tom

I’m interested in swapping an Acura engine into my ‘93 Civic DX hatch.  I’m not a good mechanic so I want to find a shop near me that can do the swap.  I’m just outside of Boston. There used to be a guy in Barre, MA by the name of Chuck Noonan who had some skills in Honda/Acura motor swaps.  He had a shop called CRE.  I have a number for him, but it’s out of service.  Does anyone know where he is now, or how to get in touch with him? If Chuck’s not doing this anymore, can anyone else suggest somebody good in the general Boston area (say, within 100 miles or so of Boston) who has done these swaps, and who has a good reputation? Thanks a lot!

Response:

There is good article in the latest SCC and while there are some issues that may try the mortal shadetree mechanic, overall it sounds very doable. I have started looking for 18A motors and may try it myself. Find the motor, a couple of cases of beers, some good friends and weekend, vroom vrooooom. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I’m interested in swapping an Acura engine into my ‘93 Civic DX hatch. >  I’m not a good mechanic so I want to find a shop near me that can do > the swap.  I’m just outside of Boston. > There used to be a guy in Barre, MA by the name of Chuck Noonan who > had some skills in Honda/Acura motor swaps.  He had a shop called CRE. >  I have a number for him, but it’s out of service.  Does anyone know > where he is now, or how to get in touch with him? > If Chuck’s not doing this anymore, can anyone else suggest somebody > good in the general Boston area (say, within 100 miles or so of > Boston) who has done these swaps, and who has a good reputation? > Thanks a lot!

Hi I’m looking for some info on engine swap. here the thing I just picked up a complete engine with trans from a civic for 300 hundred.  It has 25 k on the engine, here the thing,  I had purchased a v-tec from a 95 acura integra the previous year.  My goal was to create something really special, I wanted to create a mid engine car!  But, in the mean time,  I would like to get some advice on how difficult an engine swap would be to put the 93 civic engine and trans into  my 89 honda crx?  The other thing that i need to know is that the 93 civic engine is missing the electronics.  Whats sort of pit falls should I watch out for and what should I do about the ecu unit that missing should I just buy a replacement?   Any advice would be of a  great help thanks in advance.

you can’t put the 93 trans into your rex.  the rex trans will bolt up to the 93 block.

How much would the engine swap cost, and are there any pit falls and or things to worry about?
