Openable Quarter Windows.

Question:

The windshields on early 40’s Chevy trucks did that also (possibly even older models), and some American cars had openable windshields. Roy

I remember an Austin I had in the 50’s (in the U.K.) that had a screw to open the windshield at the bottom. With that you hardly need AC Alan 1997 Buick Custom LeSabre

They can but they are too cheap. Remember GM was the one who removed opening rear door windows in their midsize cars in the late 70s/early 80s. Chrylser also did this on the first year production of K-cars but were restored the next year. GM waited for the complete redesign to FWD before they restored opening rear door windows to their midsize car lines. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > One of the things the gang & I talk about are features on cars of > yesteryear that are non existant on todays cars. Good question…my dad’s 1965 327 Malibu SS coupe had them.  In fact with the rear window down the total window opening was continuous from front to rear!! I miss the front floor vents of yesteryear.  Air Conditioning is nice, but I would rather roll down the windows and open the floor vents (if there were any) most of the time…unless it’s really hot out.
